Merriang School is a dual campus school, with both campuses overseen by the Principal and Assistant Principal. The school operates as one.
The Early Years Campus is in Gordons Road, South Morang, and caters to students in the primary school age group.
Our Later Years Campus, in Duncan Road, Lalor is for students from upper primary years to Year 12.
At both campuses we provide a stimulating and challenging learning environment, where each and every student can feel safe and supported.
Our school caters for the learning and developmental needs of students who have a diagnosed disability. A significant number of the students experience multiple disabilities, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Merriang School is not a designated neighbourhood school. Enrolment is based on the school’s local enrolment policy which outlines the specific entry criteria for enrolment. The policy is available to view under the Policies heading. Any queries regarding the policy should be directed to the school.
The current enrolment exceeds 100 with a higher percentage of students in the prep to year 6 age categories. It is expected that numbers will increase annually as this has been the current trend over the past four years.
The school currently has 60 staff, some of whom are part time. In addition the school employs the services of a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, Music teacher and specialist Art teachers at each campus. We also have access to a DET Educational Psychologist when needed.
The major goal of the school is to educate students to their maximum potential and equip them to be valued, worthwhile members of their community. In order to achieve this aim, the school provides stimulating and challenging learning opportunities for each student within a responsive and safe environment.
