Merriang provides an inclusion program for students aged 6 to 11 years at Barrawang Primary School located in Wollert.
Merriang have a junior class of students working along side the Barrawang Junior Community and a senior class of students working along side the Barrawang Middle community. Students wear the Barrawang uniform and participate in the primary school programs including literacy, maths, art, physical education and library. In the playground all students play together. This allows all students to grow in confidence and self-esteem.
In the inclusive school community the focus is on participation, communication, wellbeing and positive learning outcomes. This involvement provides all students with opportunities to extend their knowledge and skills in a range of curriculum areas as well as enhancing their communication and social capacity. Students attending the inclusive schools community will also receive specialist educational and therapy programs to cater for their specific educational needs.
